I started out in horticulture as a therapeutic horticulturist, enabling children and adults to foster greater kindness towards themselves by directing kindness towards their landscape. I have also worked as a horticulturist mindful of the balance of what is best for the landscape, often at odds with the aesthetic demands of the garden. I believe the need for the integrity of our native landscapes must be prioritised, supported and protected.
The work that fulfils me the most is working directly with gardeners to better take care of themselves through caring for and connecting with their landscape.
To me the beauty of a garden is found in the ‘life’ a garden supports, both emotional and tangible. Together we can create balanced and thriving ecosystems right outside your back door, giving you a place for emotional and spiritual grounding. Gardeners, guardians, stewards... however you identify, we all want to restore nature and connect more meaningfully with our landscape.
With diverse conversations around rewilding and naturalising home spaces, it’s important to understand a gardener’s role as a ‘keystone species’ creating disruption and abandonment cycles in your garden, staying connected and attuned to your garden's needs.
